As the story progresses, we find key support characters both protagonists and antagonists and their back stories explain their role in Webb’s spell binding mystery. “Bone Cold’s” intriguing plot changes direction several times. Webb places readers on the shoulders of Sarah and Tom and they see the investigation through their eyes. Their investigation involves secrets of scientific experiments, manipulation of people, murder, taking of hostages, rogue investigators, corrupt politics, power, control, and romance. Webb helps her readers understand Sarah’s commitment to find the missing children and to uncover who is behind the kidnappings. Webb is a master of taking her readers into uncharted waters on social issues and then delivers an unpredictable ending.
