John Lennons Across The Universe. Not really a Xmas tune, but it certainly has a very spiritual quality to it. I recorded this instrumental version a couple of weeks ago at my home studio. I had written a song for a dear friend who had had a close family member pass away suddenly and I was moved to write a piece of music for her and her family. As I was setting up my studio to record the song, I put on the Let It Be LP to inspire me. When Across The Universe played I realized that the mood of that track was really perfect, so I came up with a quick arrangement and tried to capture the emotion of what was happening. The family played it at the funeral service and I believe it helped them in the grieving process. Music has always had healing qualities and it continues to be salve for the soul for me certainly. Sorry for the slightly somber message, but Im hoping this reading of Johns beautiful melody brings Peace, Love and Healing to you... I want to dedicate this to all my Beatle Buddies, especially Dave Martin who was my first BB when we were in first grade. He was the first to own the Let It Be record, and we would trade records every weekend. Also to Steve Lukather, Todd Rundgren John Timmons Sophie Timmons friends, heroes and Beatle Fans one and all!
