+++John Lewis advert+++ The Bear & the Hare It has been brought to my attention that a wonderful annual advert had been shown on TV to promote John Lewis. After watching the advert I felt badly let down. I can accept that a bear and a rabbit can become good friends especially in these thankfully more tolerant times. However I find it hard to believe that the rabbit has enough income even with a generous benefit system for rabbits to be able to find the finances to shop at John Lewis, never mind wrap the prezzie as rabbits dont have thumbs. I am willing to overlook this and accept that the prezzie was wrapped by an assistant. At this point I think things take a turn for the weird. Presumably the bear is startled awake by the duel bell alarm clock, because anyone who has ever owned one of these instruments of torture will know the terror of being woken up this way. (I still wake up 5 minutes before any alarm I set). The bear would obviously destroy the package with his massive bear claws, leave the cave needing to feed after hibernating, walk straight into a clearing that looks like a KFC variety meal and finish with a scene that looks like it came straight from a Quentin Tarantino film. So to sum up Bears and rabbits can be friends especially if the rabbit is financially secure but please dont buy anyone an alarm clock with twin bells and hammer. It could leave them disturbed.
