John MacArthur says that God is not exercising His Sovereignty and - TopicsExpress

John MacArthur says that God is not exercising His Sovereignty and is God in Exile, thus denying a central concept of the Reformed faith, Gods Providence: God the great Creator of all things does uphold, direct, dispose, and govern all creatures, actions, and things, from the greatest even to the least. . . . (WCF 5:1; 1689 London Baptist Confession 5:1). The result: Thousands of evangelicals rush to defend their darling celebrity explaining why he said what he said and how its OK that he said it. Kirk Cameron made a movie about an issue that the Bible considers, at best, secondary to the Christian faith (Col. 2:16), about the origin of a modern festival and why he celebrates it. The result: The same Evangelicals rush to crucify him as if he has advocated the abolition of Christianity. Conclusion: American Evangelicals are way too open-minded on direct attacks on the foundations of their faith, and way too close-minded on details of secondary importance. We will know when the church in America has awakened from its slumber when MacArthur is kicked out of the pulpit for his words above, and Kirks movie is met with an amused smile and friendly doubt.
