John Petro was the Toolroom foreman from the 1950s until the early 1970s when he took a promotion to Engineering. John supervised the Toolroom all three shifts which required the help of group leaders on the off shifts. Besides being responsible for the personnel and scheduling work through the department, a Toolroom foreman has to have a vast knowledge of tooling cost, what to build in-house, and what to send out. His goals are always to try and upgrade the department’s performance. Given the economic times and the company’s status at the turn of the century, the Toolroom foreman position had disappeared and the paper work was handled by other supervisors. Some of you might remember John’s daughter, Charlotte. They used to live on Spring St., a block away from Federal-Mogul. I also have to suggest that all the salary personnel at Federal-Mogul that year must have gotten a new outboard motor for Christmas!
