John W. Ball age 80 of St. Charles, VA was born in Wise County, VA on Thursday, February 22, 1934 and passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, TN. He had been a coal miner and a member of the U.M.W.A, he also had his own business; J.W. Ball Excavating and Construction. J.W. also attended the Eastern Sunrise Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his son James Ball, parents Loran and Eleanor Ball and three brothers Ewing Ball, Robert Ball and infant brother Gordon Ball.J.W. is survived by his wife Betty Ball of the home, one daughter Sharlene Ball of St. Charles, VA, two grandchildren J.J. Ball and wife, Cammie and Brandi Cowan, and one great-grandchild Dylan Ball. He is also survived by three brothers Floyd Ball and Glen Ball both of Noblesville, IN and Sam Ball of St. Charles, one sister Sue Etta Moore of Pennington Gap, VA and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap, VA with Paul Davis, Jr. officiating.Visitation will be 6:00 PM Wednesday until the time of the service.The graveside service will be at 11:00 AM Thursday at the Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, VA.The family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 AM Thursday to go to the cemetery.Condolences can be sent to the family by e-mail to condolences@provincefuneralhome We are located at 42098 E.
