John Waters making self-pitying and self-justifying noises, again. Its jaw-dropping just how without irony the man can be, whining about his feeling of insecurity. He spends years vilifying LGBT people, using his multiple media platforms to add to the stigma and insecurity we already experience. Then, as a result of his own monumental narcissism and stupidity, finds himself the object of public ignominy, and with a straight-face, he cries about his own stigma and insecurity. I would rather not feel any schadenfreude, but it is compelling to note that this demagogic blow-hard would undoubtedly have continued to pump anti-LGBT propaganda into the public sphere. The rejection, disapproval and lack of affirmation he is currently experiencing are as a result of his actions, whereas for a large proportion of LGBT people, those experiences are as a result of their identity - a stigma this man worked tirelessly to propagate. The scorn and disapproval he receives are richly earned, and it is a measure if just how delusional he is that he is so surprised.
