John Wayne, legend. But jeez he sounds like a prick. Wayne would later call High Noon un-American and say he did not regret helping run the writer, Carl Foreman, out of the country. I think both High Noon and Rio Bravo are terrific films. And that High Noons realistic approach to that story was great. It was the thinking mans take on that story. Any smart guy WOULD go around town asking anyone and everyone for help if he knew some psychos were gonna show up. I love that the movies pretty much in real-time, too. Rio Bravos great, as well. For very different reasons. Like Stumpy, the greatest sidekick in Western film history. I like that Rio Bravo is the right-wing response to High Noon, but theyre both superb.
