John is still with us although yesterday for a time Becca and I thought he had quietly slipped away in his sleep when his breathing just seemed to gently come to a halt. We watched him for a while and then called for a nurse and as we stood and watched and waited he took a deep breath and started clearly breathing again. By late afternoon things still seemed very slow and we took the decision to stay for the night to be with him. About half an hour after we made that decision John woke up and told us that he was hungry! He managed to eat two yoghurts over the course of the evening and to have something to drink. The last time he wanted to eat anything was last Saturday. We think that he knows that he is back at the Hospice and he has told us that the nurses are lovely and beautiful. He is very peaceful and appears to feel no pain but he does tell us that he feels poorly.
