John, one of the Disciples of Jesus Christ. His brother, James, - TopicsExpress

John, one of the Disciples of Jesus Christ. His brother, James, was also a disciple. His father was Zebedee, which was a prosperous man in those times. John and James were among the first disciples to be called to follow Jesus. John, as his brother, was a fisherman on the Sea of Galilee, they were also partners with Simon Peter, in the fishing business. John, was a very spirited individual full of spunk, he had an unwavering faith, following and serving the Lord with great passion. He was one of the inner 3, along with Peter and John. Peter and John were the 2 disciples that were sent to prepare the Passover meal, Luke 22:8 states: And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat. When Jesus was hanging on the Cross, He spoke these words in John 19:26, When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Jesus told His mother, that John was now her son, the man whom he loved. John was courageous and devoted to the Lord, even standing by Him until the end. In Chapters 3-4 of Acts, after the Ascension of Jesus, John and Peter spoke boldly of their testimony and in doing so received great hostility from the Sanhedrin Court, the very ones that plotted to crucify Jesus Christ. Such unwavering Faith should be imitated today. History relates that around the time of A.D. 160, that John was plunged, unhurt, into boiling oil. He suffered greatly for the Kingdom of God. Because of his stand for the Lord, John was exiled to the Isle of Patmos, Revelation 1:9 relates his own words, I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the Word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. After his exile from Patmos, he returned to Ephesus, where he spent his remaining years spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was the also the author of several Books of the Bible, the Gospel of John, 1, 2, and 3 John, and Revelation. He was the only disciple to die a natural death, not that his enemies did not try to destroy him. His life was a true example of Jesus Christ, just as ours should be today...
