Johnny Hayward Sparks, 72 of Columbus, GA passed away peacefully in his sleep in Eufaula, AL on Wednesday, May 28, 2014. Funeral services will be held 4:00 pm EDT Friday, May 30, 2014 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Pastor Mike Fortenberry officiating. The family will receive friends this evening (Friday) one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private interment will follow a later time by his loving family. Mr. Sparks was born December 8, 1941 in Phenix City, AL to the late George Robert Sparks and Effie Thomas Sparks. He was retired from Ludlow Coated Products in Columbus, GA with 44 plus years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, and spending time with his family, friends and fishing and hunting buddies. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Sparks and three brothers, Fred Sparks, Marvin Sparks and Harold Sparks. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Linda Elizabeth Hall Sparks of Columbus, GA, three daughters, Carol Baker and husband Larry, Kimberley Sparks and Kristie Sparks, all of Columbus, GA; three sisters, Judy Campbell and husband David of Waynesboro, VA, Brenda Smith and Debra Hollon, both Columbus, GA, one brother, Richard Sparks and wife Gaynell of Phenix City, AL. Two grandchildren, Chelsea Baker and Madelyne Sparks, numerous other loving family members and many caring friends.
