Johnny Jumpers (sad) Story He came 10 days ago to animal control. Someone left him in the outside lock ups. Well, I believe his family left him there at night, although the outside cages are for stray dogs only, some ppl truly believe its an easy and cheap way to get rid of private pets without the knowledge that they could get a ticket for abandoning a pet, what is prohibited by NM law. If you cant care for your pet anymore, for whatever stupid reason, you should have the guts to go inside, pay the $20 intake fee and leave vaccine records and some helpful information about your pet that may help to find it a home or a rescue. (In our eyes, you are a douchebag anyway but at least you tried.) Animal Control isnt a kennel boarding or rehoming facility, without volunteers, kind persons looking for another ppls trash or rescues, you leave your pet there to get killed, plain and simple! Anyway this lil guy had a seizure a few days ago in his kennel. He was shaking and panting all the time so I thought it could be a one time Chihuahua thing. But we just showed up at animal control to do pictures for new possible dogs for us and we got the information about another seizure he had a few seconds ago. We took him straight to our vet and we named him Johnny Jumper. Johnny was still weak and dizzy at the vet office and there are a few possibilities that could cause the seizures. His blood glucose level was pretty low but not low enough to say it is diabetes. He has higher temperature, his head is most of the time not very straight and sometimes his coordination is like a young puppy. Well, we hope Johnny has a concussion and he was not eating right the last days because he stressed himself a lot. I say hope because we dont want to hear soon anything about epilepsy... We left the vet office with a very mellow and relaxed dog, no shaking or panting anymore. He is so good, with a lot of kisses and wagging tail that we decided to take him with us to Home Depot. He was sitting in my arm like a lil king. No one was able to see that we got this lil dog 30 minutes ago from animal control, shaking and panting, close to get a nervous breakdown. He still seems happy, curious and very relaxed but we keep him seperate from other dogs because of the possibility of a concussion. Also our lil punching bag has had at one time broken ribs that healed wrong and a broken tail... We changed the plan for tonight from laundry and vacuum cleaner to beer and dogs on patio - perfect evening with happy end for Johnny Jumper! We could use a lil bit help with our vet bills or dog food/treat expenses. Any help is greatly appreciated.
