Johnny Winter and Edgar Winter grew up in Beaumnt Texas. I knew them from the Tower Lanes, where all us kids bowled and hung out. Johnny was already a South Texas music legend with Gangster of Love his first hit. Last time I saw him before I left for the Army in 1966, he had a flat top. When I got home from Vietnam in 1969, he had shoulder length hair and was wearing thigh high boots from San Francisco, where he had been, while I was overseas.
