Johnny the Jet Rodgers joins Rural Media Group By Barbara Soderlin (click see more to see the entire article) Rural Media Group has hired Johnny Rodgers, the 1972 Heisman Trophy winner, as vice president of new business development. The Omaha-based parent company of cable television and satellite radio networks said Rodgers responsibilities are to generate and develop new business by creating awareness through networking and public relations. Rodgers travels frequently for public speaking engagements and said that would be an opportunity to “educate his fans,” especially those in agribusiness, about RFD-TV. “Johnny has a tremendous attitude, and brings a strong work ethic with an experienced media background to our company,” Rural Media Group founder Patrick Gottsch said. Rodgers has degrees in broadcast journalism and advertising from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and once owned a cable TV and entertainment magazine in the San Diego area.
