Johns day was fairly uneventful. This is a term we have learned to love. He is still struggling with his lungs and the pneumonia. This evening the ventilator was doing the majority of the work, however, for 6 hours today, he assisted in his own breathing. The sedation medication will continue to be a daily balancing act to keep his blood pressure, heart rate and respiratory functions in check. His night nurse explained to me that there is no scientific formula for this and it is monitored and altered each day/hour as needed. His liquid intake has been reduced since the output is not to par. Too much liquid can also affect the function of his lungs. John is fighting to pull through this and handling the job as he does everything else - like a champ! The amount of love and support we receive daily is incredible! Your prayers are felt.
