$$$Johnson State College, Coordinator Career Services$$$ Job Title: Coordinator Career Services Hours Full-time Department Career Services Department FLSA Status Exempt Salary Range: Within the VSC Grade 12 Salary Range Bargaining Unit VSC UP PAT Bargaining Unit HR Contact: Susan Rothschild Date posted: 9/19/13 Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree required, (Master’s degree preferred) in appropriate discipline, plus three years of relevant work experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. • Broad based knowledge and skills related to career counseling/placement. • Understanding of both liberal arts and vocational/professional education as it relates to career development. • Good planning, organizational, administrative, and supervisory skills. • Ability to work collaboratively and in an interdisciplinary capacity. • Strong and effective interpersonal and written communication skills. Examples of Work Performed: • Support and cultivate a culture on campus that emphasizes a developmental approach to degree, career, and life planning. • Work with students in individual and group settings to help them connect their college experiences to their career preparation. • Facilitate career development workshops and individual career counseling on topics such as self-assessment, career planning, resume writing, interviewing, locating job and/or internship opportunities. • Plan and deliver campus events pertaining to career exploration; coordinate on-campus recruiting events and job fairs. • Coordinate the implementation of web based resources including an online database of jobs, internships and volunteer opportunities. • Administer and evaluate an annual graduate placement survey, provide a comprehensive data-supported report to the JSC community, and lead appropriate follow-up activities. • Develop and maintain a diverse range of resources to serve campus-based, prospective students as well as distance/commuter students. • Prepare and monitor annual budget, coordinating multiple budget lines and program accounts. • Annually assess programs, develop and modify programs in accordance with institutional objectives and student needs.
