John’s Eyewitness Testimony. The apostle John tells us that he was there and that this stuff is true. Why? Not for political gain or prestige, but because he cares about the souls of men. He tells us this so that we may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and have life in his name. John 19:35 - He who saw it has borne witness—his testimony is true, and he knows that he is telling the truth—that you also may believe. John 20:30-31 - Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. John 21:24-25 - This is the disciple who is bearing witness about these things, and who has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true. Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Here at Tear It Down, our mission statement is to destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God. In taking every thought captive to Christ, our intention is not to prove someone wrong or win an argument. Our goal is twofold: 1) the salvation of souls through faith in Jesus Christ and 2) the strengthening of the faith of believers which should allow them to submit to Christ and produce spiritual fruit.
