Subah named in gov’t motorbike deal Under-fire I.T company, Subah Infosolutions has yet again been fingered in the purchase of motorbikes for the nationwide street naming and property addressing projects. A document intercepted by citifmonline indicates that government [Local Government and Rural Development] has directed Regional Ministers and Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to make payment for motorbikes and field equipment that will be used for the nationwide street naming exercise. President John Dramani Mahama in March, 2013 directed the Ministry for Local Government and Rural Development to implement the street naming exercise within eighteen months. According to the memo signed by acting director for the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Vincent K.Adzato-Ntem on May 2, 2014, MMDAs have been instructed to make payments to Subah Infosolutions and Street Naming Ghana Limited. ”I refer to an earlier correrspondence from the ministry dated 14th April 2014 on the above subject [PROCUREMENT OF OFFICE EQUIPMENT FOR STREET NAMING AND PROPERTY ADDRESSING PROJECT ACTIVITIES] matter and wish to inform you that two separate cheques are to be written by each MMDA in respect of the street naming items being distibuted by the ministry to MMDAs,” the directive noted. It ordered that cheques be paid to Subah Infosolutions for the procurement of motorbikes and Street Naming Ghana Limited for the purchsase of equipmnet and accessories and softwares. 2. Reconstitute Ghana Gas board – ACEP to gov’t The Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) wants the board of the Ghana Gas Company restructured. They made this calling following what they say are questionable deals the Ghana Gas Company has entered into. This was made known in a report by ACEP titled; ‘Ghana Gas, Questionable deals and the national interest, how Ghana’s quest for energy security faces imminent danger’. ACEP raised questions about a Joint Venture Agreement with Afgen, based in Benin to build an LnG re-gasification facility and to sell re-gasified LNG to Ghana. Apart of the deals, ACEP says the membership of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Dr Valerie Sawyer on the Company’s is wrong, hence their call for the restructuring of the board. “The Deputy Chief of Staff is part of the Presidency and should not be serving on boards of state-owned entities. It creates difficulties for the sector Minister in the supervision of Ghana Gas,” the report said. 3. Stigmatization hampers the health of persons living with HIV and AIDS says PLHIV The stigmatization and discrimination to persons living with HIV and AIDS is said to lead them to their early grave. In view of this, North Star news has visited some persons living with HIV and AIDS to find out how they cope with the stigmatization and discrimination from the general public. Speaking to the Secretary of the Northern Regional Network of persons living with HIV, Mr. Langa Amadu said stigmatization has made many persons living with HIV and AIDS to lose their Jobs, friends, families and properties. He called on people to try and associate with persons living with persons HIV and AIDS to improve their health conditions. He also revealed that some of the Persons Living with HIV and AIDS do not want people to know their status due to the stigmatization and discrimination exhibited at their communities.
