Join Ann Shinall this Monday, June 10th, for a Free Introduction to Orth-Bionomy! Ortho-Bionomy is a system of working with the innate reflexes of the body to bring about a better sense of balance, well-being, and personal integration. The bodywork techniques we use are gentle, non-force, safe techniques which draw on the natural healing instincts of the person. Ortho-Bionomy is an educational system. As Ortho-Bionomists we are teachers. We educate the person by bringing to attention the patterns within themselves. This awareness allows opportunity and motivation for change. We re-educate the body’s reflexes by exaggerating the pattern, which mirrors to the body the current pattern. Once the body recognizes the pattern, there is a shift from unconscious, autonomic reflex holding patterns to more conscious control. This leads to spontaneous self-correction. It also provides the awareness of the body’s ability to obtain a more balanced position and thus more comfort. Because the person’s body is healing itself, change is profound. Ortho-Bionomy is principle-based work rather than protocol-based. The techniques we teach provide approaches to applying the principles. Every move, every session, is tailored to that individual’s body in that moment of time.
