Join Carnegie Presbyterian Church for a Sunrise Service on Ester Morning at 7am – According to Time Magazine: In 1773, Americas first Sunrise Service — an Easter Mass held early enough for congregants to witness the dawns first rays together — was held in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, organized by the Moravians — a church with its roots in the present-day Czech Republic. The service is held to mark the empty tomb that greeted Mary as dawn broke on Easter morning. Since then, such celebrations have been held in such diverse and scenic venues as the Hollywood Bowl (which celebrates its 88th service this year), the Lincoln Memorial and Colorado Springs Garden of the Gods. CPC’s sunrise service might not be quite so ancient or elaborate, but it is still a wonderful way to start the Easter celebration. Come to the crosses Easter morning at 7am and proclaim that “He is risen indeed! This service will be followed by a continental breakfast, New Hope at 8:45, an Easter egg hunt for kids at 10 and traditional worship at 11.
