Join Us AUGUST 23, 7PM: Critically Acclaimed Transgender Documentary Special Screening at PUC Why should the conversation about transgender people be a social justice issue at PUC and the world around us?” Social justice, particularly within the Unitarian Universalist principles espouses acceptance of others to make the world a better place. When transgender individuals are stigmatized and made vulnerable to be ridiculed and physically abused, we as a congregation must counter these behaviors and extend compassion. Compassion for this group must be learned, understood, and advocated so they too can live in a world free from emotional and physical harm. The film Trans on Friday, August 23rd, at 7 pm at PUC teaches us compassion, giving us the understanding and tools to support people in making decisions to step out of one gender and comfortably move into another. Please join our social justice ministry members at the screening. A panel discussion with transgender thought leaders will be immediately after the screening. Let’s show them the UU spirit by showing up and participating in a thought provoking conversation with them.
