Join Us for ROC Day or St. Distaffs Day ...or a great excuse to spend a day spinning (or weaving, or knitting or returning to whatever your craft might be). Mark your calendars now! Back when spinning was a real job, St. Distaff day was the traditional day that spinners went back to work after putting aside their craft for the holidays. ROC is another name for a distaff. ROC Day is typically celebrated the day after the Twelfth Night and the feast of the Epiphany. Naturally, women were thrilled to return to their spinning wheels and made excuses to celebrate. While there never was a real St. Distaff, we celebrate to this day. The gifts are made, the feasts consumed, and the flurry of the holidays are behind us. Now it’s time to start a new fiber project, perhaps one just for you! Join us on Sunday January 4th from noon to 4pm at FiberArts in the Glen to celebrate ROC Day! Dust off a project or start a new one. You’re sure to find something wonderful at FiberArts in the Glen. Feel free to bring a dish or snack to share, if you’d like. We’ll have the tea pot on. Wear your sweats or even your jammies…Be comfy! It’s a day just for you, to enjoy your craft, spend time with old fiber friends or maybe make some new ones.
