Join me to protest #RepChrisVanHollen in Westminster on Monday. Rep. Chris Van Hollen, Jr., who won just 32.6% of the vote in Carroll County last November (against my 61.9%), will be holding a phony “town hall meeting” this Monday, June 24th at 5 PM at Carroll Community College in Westminster. I urge everyone who can get off work early to come show their displeasure at this pretense at democracy. I will be there to challenge Van Hollen to a full and open debate on Monday. Will you be there? Your taxpayer dollars paid for a recent “letter to constituents” from Van Hollen claiming to represent Carroll and Frederick Counties, where you voted overwhelmingly against him. It’s just like a Democrat to “meet” with constituents at 5 PM, knowing full well that so many Carroll County residents commute long distances to their jobs and often don’t get home before 7 PM at the earliest. But let me warn you. Van Hollen’s media show on Monday won’t be a Town Hall meeting as you would envision such an event. There will be no free flow of ideas, nor any challenges from angry citizens – unless you act. Before redistricting, Van Hollen held similar phony “Town Hall meetings” in Montgomery County to showboat his partisan actions, not to hear the concerns of his constituents. He does this by 1) requiring people to submit written questions, not speak from the floor, and 2) by selecting those issues he wants to address but never actually reading hostile questions. We need to break through this political farce. I will be there on Monday and will do what I can to challenge Van Hollen on his failure to represent the citizens of Carroll and Frederick Counties in Congress. Won’t you join me? Rep. Chris Van Hollen, Jr., has - failed to pass a budget; - failed to find a compromise on entitlement spending, forcing the sequester that is hollowing out our military as we speak; - failed to hold the current administration accountable for its disastrous national security decisions in Benghazi, Syria, and elsewhere. I doubt he will answer those critiques. I doubt that he will even allow those questions to be raised. Already we are learning of efforts by Van Hollen’s operatives in the Carroll County Democrat Central Committee to ask the County Sheriff to exclude known Republican activists from this so-called “Town Hall Meeting.” Is that the America you and I can be proud of? Is that the America we know? Where opposition voices are silenced before they can even speak? So join me for a real Town Hall Meeting with Carroll County voters at 6:30 PM just outside the meeting hall where Van Hollen and his Democrat party lackeys are attempting to suppress your right to free speech. Don’t let your voice go unheard. Speak up!
