Vacancy open for Passport Support Officer: ------------------------------------------------------------------ The British Embassy Cairo has an A2 (L) vacancy for a Passport Support Officer. This is a new slot and will be an exciting opportunity to help in the prevention of British passport fraud. The primary purpose of the role is to assist the Counter Fraud Officer based in Amman by carrying out assessments and checks on complex, British passport applications received in the UK from Egypt and other countries that fall within CFC Amman catchment. The successful candidate will have to consistently meet targets for quality efficiency and customer service. The key responsibilities of the job will be to: Set up and run the Cairo operation working to the CFO in Amman Establish and maintain a good relationship with local government officials Correspond effectively with local government offices and other UK departments (in particular RALON) Carry our verification checks as directed by CFO Amman Arrange DNA testing and collate information as and when required Carry out interviews with applicants as and when required Prepare assessments/information packages for HM Passport Offices in the UK Obtain further documents from applicants where necessary as requested by CFO in Amman or APC Durham and verify with local authorities their authenticity as and when advised by CFO Amman Set up and maintain clear and concise electronic records of referrals received and checks carried out and where necessary provide statistical information to the CFO in Amman Deal with all passport related activities (including correspondence from members of the public) as per HMPO Policy Additional responsibilities will be to: Receive passport applications at the counter, record receipt then forward to HM Passport Office Processing Centres in the UK Arrange despatch of passports received from UK either in person or through local courier arrangements) Please note these additional duties may be added to the responsibilities of the job holder at a later date. Arrange despatch/collections of documents from applicants as and when necessary, either in person direct to Post or via courier service The skills/attributes of the successful applicant will include Prioritising in a busy work environment, working alone with minimum supervision, delivering to deadlines Good interpersonal skills Strong IT skills – in particular be able to use Microsoft Excel and Word Able to speak fluently in Arabic and English The successful applicant should have experience in one or more of Familiarity with working in a similar environment or with an Embassy/High Commission Experience in dealing with the general public, institutions and other government offices Salary and Benefits: Monthly Gross Salary is LE 6,450 subject to tax as per the usual regulations based on a 36-hour working week We offer a competitive package including medical benefits, performance related bonus, recreational facilities, opportunities for job related training & development, etc To Apply: Applications for this vacancy should be sent to: [email protected] no later than 3 September 2014.
