Join the UBC Faculty of Applied Science in welcoming Dr. Witold Pedrycz, 2013 Canada Council Killam Prize Winner in Engineering, as he presents: Granular Computing in Knowledge-Based System Modeling: Developing New Avenues of Human Centric Architectures. Date: Thursday, November 28, 2013 - 3-4 pm Location: UBC Michael Smith Laboratories Lecture Theatre (Room 102) Dr. Pedrycz’s talk will present the foundations of granular computing and demonstrate how this conceptual framework gives way to human-centric system modeling. He will discuss formal set ups used in describing and processing information granules, like fuzzy sets, rough sets and interval calculus. This will be followed by a demonstration of how the key architectures of models rely upon relationships among information granules. His research focus includes computational intelligence, fuzzy modeling and granular computing.
