Join us for Month 3 - Islamic heritage in Al Andalus (Iberian Peninsula-Spain and Portugal, with Dr Stef Keris, 10am - 4pm at The Muath Centre in Birmingham. THE LECTURER: The courses will be delivered by Dr. Steph Keris: Dr Keris has travelled to many countries and has worked as a teacher in a number of them (NL, UAE, Saudi Arabia, GR, UK). He has been a lecturer and teacher for the last 25 years. He is a polyglot (English, German, Greek, French, Spanish, Dutch, Arabic) with a Masters and a PhD in Political Science. His interest in (Islamic) history of Greece, his country of origin, and other Mediterranean countries got him to work in tourism. In 2001 he moved to the UK and did a variety of courses in Islamic Studies. He became a Muslim Chaplain in 2010. Dr Stef has written a book, called Europes Forgotten Ottoman Heritage-A Historical Guide to Ottoman Greece. He has made documentaries about the Ottoman legacy in Greece and about the three Ottoman capitals (Bursa, Edirne and Istanbul). Dr Stef Keris gives presentations about ‘Ottoman and Islamic heritage in Europe’ throughout the English-speaking world as well as the German-speaking countries. He has had several programmes on Islamic heritage in Europe and in the world on Huda TV (Egypt), Unity FM (Birmingham) and in a number of different Community Centres, universities and organisations in the UK and abroad. Dr Stef plays his part in the Dawah activities in Greece and gives lectures, talks and workshops for a number of organisations within the UK and abroad. He is currently teaching an Ottoman heritage course at the deeninstitute and various courses about the spread of Islam in the world in the cities of Birmingham and Manchester (UK). cordobaacademy/
