Join us in congratulating our world-class winners for the month of April! These winning team members were nominated by their peers and selected by our review committee. Thank you to these world-class employees, and thanks also to their nominators for taking time to bring these awesome behaviors to our attention. Dawn Hebert (Baton Rouge) – Initiative Our nurse practitioner Dawn recently saw a patient in the hospital for severe chest pain. The patient had some diagnostic testing done and was discharged from the hospital. Dawn got the results of the patient’s EKG back today which showed a large mass on her heart. Extremely concerned for the patient, Dawn made every effort to contact her throughout the day. She also contacted the patient’s primary care physician to obtain updated contact information, but could not reach the patient. Fortunately, the patient called our clinic later on and was scheduled for a follow up. The amount of relief shown on Dawn’s face after getting an update on the patient is a definite representation of how deeply she cared for the patients wellbeing. Since joining CIS, Dawn has always gone above and beyond to give the best care possible to all CIS patients and represents World-Class Patient Care in all that she does. Jeannie Pennison (Galliano) – Reliability Jeannie is one of the most reliable people that I have worked with. I can always count on her. She has multiple roles in our small clinic such as answering phones, chart checking, making sure the faxes get to the appropriate location, and most of all, she is our only nurse. The patients rely on her daily for many activities, from Coumadin checks to refills to phone calls and various other scenarios. Thank you, Jeannie, for all that you do for Galliano! We appreciate you! Melissa Lacoste (Houma) - Initiative Earlier this week, I was in the patient area observing the flow, and I overheard Melissa speaking with one of our elderly patients. The weather was unfavorable with wind and heavy rains, and the patient was worried about walking to her car. Without hesitation, Melissa offered to go get the patients car in the weather and pull it up under the shelter. The patient was very grateful for Melissa. Way to go Melissa for thinking about the patients wellbeing after her visit was complete! Carol Battaglia (Lafayette) – Ownership Carol has been working very hard in the last couple of months to make our Lafayette region clinics and physicians successful. She has been working health fairs, nights and weekends, and basically promotes CIS with a song and a smile. She does this with a positive attitude and a true belief that CIS has the best to offer. Carol exemplifies the standard of ownership. Thanks, Carol, for all you do for us. Danielle Braquet (LGMC) – Teamwork I am so blessed to work for such an awesome office manager. She deserves recognition as much as anyone at the LGMC clinic. With the implementation of Next Gen, there have been a couple of challenges, but Danielle kept us all calm and focused on learning the new system. She is always willing to listen to complaints and frustrations, while never allowing her staff to see her stressed or upset. She handles issues with grace and a quiet strength. Jennifer Tamburo (Luling) - Initiative Jennifer spent her extra down time doing chart reviews to make sure that nothing was missed. Our department was in between receptionists and everyone was pitching in doing extra jobs so there was a potential for error. Jen took it upon herself to review the charts to make sure that we can provide excellent patient care. Thank you, Jen! Lisa Freyou (New Iberia) – Attitude Lisa is the perfect mix of wisdom, positive energy and compassion. She treats her patients with love and respect and is never afraid to hug them like family. She creates a happy atmosphere, where everyone feels welcomed, and awkward moments are lightened. Keeping the patients interest first, I have observed weeks when she took call at night, worked her clinic during the day, and treated patients at the hospital before her morning clinic and before her afternoon clinic. On one of those days, instead of taking time for lunch, she went to a patients home to check on her. The patients husband recently passed away, and Lisa was there to support her. Additionally, a patient called last week and specifically requested that Lisa return his call. He is fairly new to us and has no special relation to Lisa. The patient told Lisa of his upcoming procedure, and Lisa will try her hardest to visit him. She reassured him that if she couldn’t physically be there, then she would pray for him. I have seen her do that very thing many times. Today for her lunch, she visited the nursing home and conveyed to us the well wishes from some of our patients. She’s given patients rides home. When our patients feel that they really need to speak with her personally, she’ll return their calls. It is because of Lisa, I can honestly say, that not only do our patients feel like family, but our clinic does too. When you see her go the extra mile with complete joy, it makes you want to strive right along with her. Her passion is contagious. Nicole Vidrine (Opelousas) – Teamwork I recently had to leave work for a family emergency in the middle of the day. Without hesitation, Nicole took all of the pending work I was working on so that I could leave to be with my family. It was a very busy day and she had a ton of work already on her plate, but she took all the work I was worried about leaving and finished it up. Thanks so much, Nicole!
