Learn birding and birdcalls (fall bird migration has started!). Hike along the native plant loop. Meet ECWA founder Steve Hiltner from 1:00-3:00PM! Pearl Mill Preserve at the 700 block of Green St. Join John Schelp for a history of Durham and the Pearl Cotton Mill. Make your own art using natural dyes from native plants. Learn about the exciting, sustainable possible future for this part of Ellerbe Creek. Beaver Marsh Preserve is at Avondale Ave. behind Compare Foods. See the turtles and snakes of the watershed. Hike along our new trail, learn to identify animal tracks. Experience this beautiful, yet urban nature preserve close-up. Glennstone Preserve is at 3505 Glennstone Dr. off of Glenn Rd. A raptor release at 1:30 pm with CLAWS, Inc. Explore the trails and the diverse habitats of this preserve. Discover the surprising ways that plants and insects rely on each other for survival. The Creek SmartTM house is on Oakwood Ave at Primitive St. Learn about innovative practices such as rain gardens, cisterns, and native plant landscaping. Native plant giveaway to the first 20 households. Digging Durham Seed Library will also be there!
