Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) (WA) is hosting a Vietnam-era Veterans Salute Ceremony on October 9, 2014, and would like to invite all Vietnam-era Veterans to attend and be recognized. This event reaffirms one of our most fundamental obligations: to show all who have worn the uniform of the United States the respect and dignity they deserve, and to honor their sacrifice by serving them as well as they served us. One of the wars most profound tragedies was that many of our Vietnam-era Veterans came home to be shunned or neglected -- to face treatment unbefitting their courage and a welcome unworthy of their example. We must never let this happen again. It is our duty to publicly recognize and thank these veterans and their families for their service, valor and sacrifice.
