Joint Interreligious Declaration If you want to go fast, go - TopicsExpress

Joint Interreligious Declaration If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. This famous African proverb was quoted by the Vice-President of Tanzania, Dr. Gharib Bilal, when he officially opened the interreligious meeting on Peace Building, Democracy and Development in Dar es Salaam. Several important African religious leaders from Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa as well as representatives of political parties of Tanzania assembled for an interreligious dialogue. The dialogue culminated in a joint declaration, signed by all 31 participants, in which they committed themselves - among other things - to “inspire people to become active in building peace, democracy and development and promote gender equity in our communities” as well as “encourage the members of our communities to build bridges of understanding among religious people.” To see the complete declaration and for more information about the event, click here: kas.de/tansania/en/publications/37707/
