Joint Meeting: TNB Roundtable and CWU Outcomes Workgroup Do you work at a nonprofit organization that wants to show its impact through a thoughtful program evaluation plan and the resulting data? Are you wondering how you can use technology to make the evaluation process more efficient and effective? If so, please join us for a special joint gathering of the Crittenton Womens Union (CWU) Outcomes Workgroup and the Tech Networks of Boston (TNB) Roundtable Series on Thursday, September 18 at CWU. Laura Beals and Noah Schectman of the department of evaluation and learning at Jewish Family and Children’s Service (JF&CS) will be presenting on their experience choosing and implementing technology solutions to support program evaluation in nonprofit settings. During the presentation, Laura will describe criteria to consider when choosing a technology for program evaluation. As technology selection is just the first step, Noah will focus on the key aspects of a technology implementation plan. He will also discuss the resources required to make implementation a success. This presentation will focus on practical tips and tricks that you can use at your own organization. Questions and discussion are welcome throughout! Laura and Noah will also provide a resource list that you can use to learn more about the field of evaluation and technology in nonprofits. After the presentation and discussion, attendees will have an opportunity to break into smaller roundtables focused on particular topics pertaining to technology in evaluation; for example: - Choosing a technology for evaluation (i.e., general considerations: features, investment, needs, etc.) -Implementing a technology for evaluation (i.e., general considerations: staff training, staff buy-in, staffing resources, etc.) -Implementing a specific technology for evaluation, tips & tricks; platforms may include Efforts-to-Outcomes (ETO), Apricot, Salesforce, EmpowerDB, Excel, etc. Heres a bit about Laura: Laura Beals, Ph.D. is a nonprofit evaluator. Her primary areas of expertise are in program evaluation methods and the use of technology to support evaluation and research. She is currently the Director of Evaluation at Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Boston . Prior to joining JF&CS, Laura worked as the Manager for Research, Evaluation, and Technology at Connected Beginnings Training Institute , a professional development training institute for early care and education providers. Laura is also co-chair of the American Evaluation Association’s Nonprofit and Foundations Topical Interest Group. Laura completed her Ph.D. and M.A. at the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Development and was a senior member of the Developmental Technologies Research Lab at Tufts University. Heres a bit about Noah: Noah Schectman is the Manager of Data Strategy and Database Consulting at Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Boston . He has spent the majority of his career implementing performance management and evaluation data systems in nonprofit settings. He has consulted to various non-profits both independently and through the recently established JF&CS Database Consulting practice, where he is the principal consultant. Noah has a BA in Economics with a focus on statistics and econometrics.
