Joint technical society meeting: ASM, SAMPE, AWS, and ASME will host “To Be or not to Be - That is the Challenge,” a lecture on beryllium, Wednesday, Sept. 13. Loren Jacobson, retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory, will discuss the refinement, processing, properties, and health issues associated with beryllium. He will also describe the unique properties of beryllium-aluminum alloys for aerospace applications. The meeting will be at Chama River Brewing Co., 4939 Pan American Freeway, in Albuquerque. The meeting begins with a social at 5:30 p.m., with dinner and lecture at 6 p.m. The cost for members and guests is $30, $15 for students. Pay online by Friday, Sept. 13, at the link below.
