Joko widodo sworn in as Indonesian president. Joko wido completed a riverside shack to the presidential palace on Monday. Following his inauguration he made his way to the streets of jakarta.He was cheered by tens of thousands of ordinary Indonesians waiting for him. He was born in 1961.Prior to start his political career he was in furniture industry.The 53 old son of wood-seller and furniture maker started his political career with ppd-I party in 2009 as Solo mayor, his hometown, then he made his way to become Jakarta governor in 2012, he is the first Indonesian president not to come from military or political elites. To the fishermen, the workers, the farmers, the merchants, the meatball soup sellers, the academics, the laborers, entrepreneurs, and the professionals, I say, lets work hard together, shoulder to shoulder, because it is a historic moment Widodo said in his inauguration speech. Widodo better known by his nickname Jokowi was elected as seventh president of Indonesia with 53 percent of votes. His votes come from poors, non-urban Indonesians attracted by his simple demeanor and record of hard work as jakarta governor. He is the first Indonesian president not to come from super rich and often corrupt, political business and military elite. He attended to an evening concert held by his supporters, where he made a speech and cut the top of a traditional cone of rice before returning to the palace for meeting with visiting leaders. With 250 million population indonesia is the most populous Islamic country, the third largest democracy in the world and the biggest economy in South Asia.
