Jokowi malah memanggil beberapa orang petani dan menginterogasi mereka. Marihot Gultom, petani dari Siantar, Medan, Sumatera Utara adalah salah satu petani yang dipanggil ke podium acara. Jokowi bertanya seputar aktivitas pertanian yang dilakukan oleh Marihot sehari-harinya. Sawahnya berapa hektare? tanya Jokowi. Satu hektare saja Pak, jawab Marihot. Bisa panen berapa banyak? tanya Jokowi. Bisa empat ton. Dua tahun tiga kali panen. Tidak bisa dua kali panen setahun, Pak, jawab Marihot. Kenapa ndak bisa satu hektare delapan ton? Lalu satu tahun misalnya bisa ndak panen dua atau tiga kali? lanjut Jokowi bertanya. Pertama, hama sangat banyak. Ada tikus, ada burung, termasuk penyakit. Itu membuat kita enggak bisa berhasil panen banyak, jawab Marihot. Gaya bertanya Jokowi yang bertubi-tubi layaknya interogasi tersebut membuat peserta musyawarah nasional yang terdiri dari petani seluruh Indonesia tertawa. Lalu bagaimana supaya satu kali panen bisa dapat delapan ton misalnya? Seperti di luar-luar negeri itu, lanjut Jokowi bertanya. Kalau irigasi bagus, pupuk ada, bibit bagus dan hamanya enggak ada, mungkin bisa Pak, ujar Marihot. Tidak hanya Marihot, Jokowi juga menginterogasi dua petani lain, yakni berasal dari Pandeglang, Banten dan Banjarmasin, Kalimantan Selatan. Pertanyaan Jokowi sama, yakni seputar aktivitas pertanian sehari-hari. Di akhir interogasi tersebut, Jokowi menarik kesimpulan bahwa persoalan petani dari tahun ke tahun tidak berubah. Yakni seputar kurangnya lahan pertanian, kepemilikan lahan, sistem irigasi pertanian yang tak tepat, ketersediaan pupuk hingga persoalan hama. Kehadiran Jokowi di acara itu untuk memenuhi undangan Seknas Jokowi-JK. Seknas Jokowi-JK sendiri merupakan salah satu kelompok relawan yang memenangkan kandidat nomor urut dua itu menjadi presiden dan wakil presiden.
