Jonathan Walters: Interesting discussion about some of the issues that we as a society face by an economist that is an economist by education, and having involved himself in many environmental causes. of note: - GDP as an indicator is flawed, to the point of not really measuring economic progress. - Contrary to public discourse, Japan has experienced per capita GDP growth over the last 20 years, and the GDP numbers are effectively a result of their population demographics (something that I have said for quite a while) - investment should be considered a bridge to the future, and if we dont invest in that future (which we havent), then what kind of future will we have. This isnt just a matter of how much we invest but what we invest in.
