Jonathan loyalist makes case for New PDP A 2011 campaigner of President Goodluck Jonathan in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Musa Abass, tiday, made a case for the New PDP, which chipped off from the troubled PDP, insisting that the faction must be listened to if the president and the party want to retain their hold on power. Abass, a member of the Presidential Campaign Committee (PCC) that campaigned for Jonathan’s re-election in 2011, said the Abubakar Baraje-led New PDP has a strong case against the party, and warned that ignoring them is tantamount to “setting fire under the umbrella. “I am surprised that both the president and the leadership of the party are passing threats, instead of taking steps to avert the doom that awaits the party in the next election. They are playing with fire. They are setting fire under the umbrella. Our party will crumble,” Alhaji Abass, a former legislator on the platform of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN), in the second republic said. He recalled two developments during the second republic when the GNPP ignored a splinter group and lost the election in the old Borno and Gongola states, as well as Kaduna State where Balarabe Musa had not a platform to stand for him because of the crack in the defunct PRP. “I am surprised that Bamanga Tukur, who benefited from the crisis in the GNPP, by wining on the platform of the NPN, will head a party today, and ignore a similar crisis. It means he has no experience yet. “The president needs people with good party politics experience to advise him. I am one of such persons. My advice is this; the New PDP has a good and strong case. Ignoring them is throwing away the chances to continue in power on the platform of the PDP. We will lose the election. After all, after the 2011 election, did the president remember those of us who worked for him?
