‘Jonathan not to blame for current insecurity, others’ Guardian News Paper, Tuesday, 08 July 2014 05:21 Written by EDITOR A PEOPLE’S Democratic Party (PDP) youth organization has decried the “buckpassing that is going on necessitated by the current terrorism inflicted by Boko Haram,” on the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan. It said he was blameless over the country’s current security challenges and others woes that have befallen Nigeria since independence. The group, “PDP Youth Volunteers,” in a statement by its national coordinator, Prince Roxy Osobase, and national media secretary, Clement Udono, condemned the “inconsequential actions” of those who place advertorials in newspapers to bring down the Jonathan government. The statement said: “It is so sad that at this juncture that the group is not in tune with the present reality, that has prompted Dr. Jonathan and other world leaders to urge all Nigerians to have one voice against terrorism and Boko-Haram that has inflicted pains and horror on the people. “It is insignificant at this point in time to infuse Nigerians with more worries rather than solution. The western world has never said or seen anything good out of Africa but interestingly in the wake of the insurgency in Nigeria, the world leaders pledge their allegiance and solidarity to Dr. Jonathan to put an end to Boko-Haram terrorism. “It is important that we direct questions and blame to the Chief Security Officers of any given state in which all the inhuman havoc of terror and insurgency are being carried out, and not to Mr. President if we truly want to counter terrorism in our beloved nation. It is now our collective responsibility to question and apportion blame to all levels of government and security agencies in Nigeria. “The president has done well within the limit of his constitutional powers in addressing the problem of terrorism so we should not undermine his forbearance. “We applaud our elderstateman, Chief Edwin Clark, in his interview in The Guardian of April 29, 2014, when stated that “it is only when he has not done well that he will not feel he should not contest.” He pointed out some of Jonathan’s achievements such as laying foundation for the second Niger Bridge 50 years after the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe commissioned the First Niger Bridge. Clarke also listed Jonathan’s achievements in areas like power, railway, agriculture, education and communications.”
