Jonathan to inaugurate gas plant in A’Ibom President Goodluck Jonathan will inaugurate a gas processing plant with 69-kilometre pipeline at Uquo, Esit Eket Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, on Thursday. A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, on Tuesday, said the gas plant was constructed under a public-private partnership arrangement between Septa Energy and the Akwa Ibom State Government. Umanah added that the President, who coming to the state on an official visit, would also inaugurate the Goodluck Boulevard on Ring Road III in Uyo. According to the commissioner, the President is also expected to perform the ground-breaking of the $1.8bn methanol plant at Ibeno; inspect the Uyo-Ikot Ekpene-Aba federal road being undertaken by the state government; inspect the first suspended bridge in the state currently under construction in Abak; and thereafter inspect the 30,000 capacity Ibom International Stadium, Uyo, for which he laid the foundation stone in October 2012. He stated that during Jonathan’s visit to Akwa Ibom in October 2012, he inaugurated the new digital governor’s office alongside other completed projects by the Governor Goodswill Akpabio administration. Umanah added that the President would also meet with a cross section ofAkwa Ibom indigenes before departing for Abuja.
