Jonis Journey. October 30, 2014. It has been an emotional rollercoaster for a week now. I apologize for all the postings in such short time frame but much is happening and all that want to know how she is doing, I feel obligated to let you know. Thursday was the scan, Friday was the results and a new chemo treatment. Saturday, we came home for the weekend so Joni could celebrate her birthday with much of her family. Monday was supposed to be a return trip to Zion but Joni was in severe pain and couldnt make the trip but we did take her to ER to get her pain relief. Tuesday, we did get back to Zion for the consultation on the stent procedure. Wednesday afternoon, Joni received her stent and opened up the blockage and we got back home at midnight. Quite a week. As far as the stent goes, Joni will need to have that replaced every 4 months. The blockage that requires this stent is new cancer growth that is laying on the pathway from the right kidney to the bladder. I was mistaken when I told you that the bladder was enlarged. It was the right kidney and without this procedure, she would have went into renal failure. But that is opened up and things are better there. The new chemo procedure is every 3 weeks now instead of 4 and the next visit, they will introduce a new drug to compliment the chemo, but make Joni sicker. There is no pleasant path with these toxins. But we hold on to hope and grab for any bright moment we can get. Through it all, Joni continues on being the remarkable woman she is. There have been many moments when the pain has taken hold a little heavy. This is when we slow Joni down a bit and make her rest. She can still radiate a room with her smile and fill hearts with happiness by just being her. Those eyes of hers continue to melt me and her presence will always be the soothing effect to calm any stressful day. She has a battle ahead of her but I believe she is the one to conquer this. --Jim.
