Jordan Walker #55 UPDATE ******** Update from Curtis Walker 8-4-2014 I cant believe it has been over a month since the last update. Things are going well for Jordan lately. Everyday is a new day with new challenges, hurdles, learning, and new experiences. Learning to do the things he loves in different ways. Living life now is so different for all of us. Staying positive is the main focus of everyday. We try to focus on what he can do and Not what he cant! A few weeks ago. Mom and Dad had a weekend away together for the first time since the accident. We went to Pismo beach with some great friends and had a great time. Jordan spent the weekend at the river with Brooke, Austin, and Shayne. They were chaperoned by some of our good friends Brian and Lindsay. They had a great time! Being a normal teenager is so important for Jordan. We are so lucky to have Brooke in our lives. She is so great with Jordan and understands any medical conditions that arise and handles them with ease. Austin is also learning the basics, he has actually had to help with a few medical emergencies. They have such a special bond and friendship. Last weekend we spent in Mendocino at Moms family reunion. It was great to see family that we see only every 3 years. My uncle taught Jordan how to play Cribbage and Chess. What an amazing, patient person to take the time to make him feel like part of the family (playing cards is something our family always does when were together). Tomorrow will be his last day of summer school. He is finally finished making up the 2nd semester he missed during his hospitalization. Next Monday, Jordan will start his senior year. He is taking 2 classes on campus and the rest will be home schooled. The anticipation of going back to school is becoming real. It is scary for Jordan to return to school in a wheelchair. Just like anything Jordan does for the first time which is typically tough in the beginning, then he adjusts and learns how to be normal in his new body. We have been working closely with school faculty to work out all of the details for Jordan to return to school. This includes, his 1 on 1 aid, on staff nursing, medical supplies, equipment, etc....As much as we can physically prepare for the return to school, there is really no way to predict or prepare for the mental part. We would like to thank all of our family, friends, and community for the continued support. It truly helps us get through this. Curtis and Ali Walker #PrayForJordanWalker
