Jose Mourinho Planning Third Bid for Man United Striker Wayne Rooney. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly considering making a third bid for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, Sky Sports reports. The England man is still the club’s number one transfer target of the summer, though Mourinho has admitted that he has a backup plan should a deal for the 27-year-old fail to materialise. Chelsea have already seen two bids for the player rejected by the Premier League champions, and the challengers have confessed that a third bid is more than likely. Asked if he had any news on the situation, the Blues boss said: “Nothing has changed and, at a certain point, I agree with what Alan Pardew (Newcastle boss) was saying, that the transfer window goes too far. “It goes to the third, fourth fixture of the season, which I agree is too much. “But, at the same time, it gives everyone a chance to be in the market, while we are winning or losing points, and we will be until the last day.” Mourinho also said that United were entitled to knock back any bid they wanted to for the England man, just as they had done when Barcelona came knocking for David Luiz.
