Jose Mourinho has splashed out £78m to lure Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Filipe Luis away from La Liga. Hes also snapped up Didier Drogba on a free. But the quartet are joined in the new- boy ranks by 19-year-old Croatian Mario Pasalic. The midfielder has been dubbed the new Luka Modric and joins from Hajduk Split. However, Blues fans will have to wait to see him action as hes been sent to Elche on a season-long loan. After signing for the Spanish outfit, Pasalic said: I wanted to play in La Liga and my coach [Jose] Mourinho thought the best thing for me was to come to Spain to play against big teams. Im grateful for this opportunity with Elche. Ive come here because I believe I can be an important player and help the club have a good season. Pasalic signed a four-year deal at Hadjuk Split last summer and caught the eye scoring 11 goals and setting up five. He was part of Croatias 30-man squad for the World Cup but was one of seven players to miss out for the final cut.
