Jose Mourinho is ready to sell long-standing number one Petr Cech - TopicsExpress

Jose Mourinho is ready to sell long-standing number one Petr Cech in order to make room for Thibaut Courtois, reports the Daily Mail. Cech has been the firm number one goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge since joining in 2004, making over 300 Premier League appearances in that time. But recent performances have started to concern Mourinho, leading to the Chelsea manager considering whether or not to bring Cechs time as the first choice goalkeeper to an end. At just 31-years-old, Cech has not even reached what is considered prime years for a goalkeeper but the excellent form of Courtois at Atletico Madrid is forcing Mourinho to consider putting him into early retirement. Courtois originally signed for Chelsea in 2011 but has yet to make his debut for the Blues, instead spending the last three years on loan to Atletico Madrid During that time the 21-year-old has come to be thought of as one of top goalkeepers in the world, winning the Golden Glove award last season and helping Atletico to a title challenge this term Courtois has already confirmed that he has no intention of returning to Chelsea to sit on the bench and would consider leaving should he not be given what he wants. He has challenged Mourinho to sort out his future soon or risk losing him. After three years of top quality play, Courtois has no shortage of suitors should Mourinho decide against selling Cech Mourinho, it seems, is leaning further and further towards Courtois and may even consider offering Cech to Atletico Madrid instead.
