Joseph Conrad, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, J.R.R. Tolkien, Oscar - TopicsExpress

Joseph Conrad, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, J.R.R. Tolkien, Oscar Wilde, Ray Bradbury, Joseph Heller, are in my opinion, some of the greatest writers of all times. Most of them lived in the late 1800s and early 1900s which makes me wish that I had been born in 1894 instead of 1994. I am in no means comparing my writing to theirs, but I feel that my writing would be appreciated more in their time period. According to my previous creative writing professors my writing too creative and strewn with too many large words and my sentence structure is too complex for the average person to comprehend. Writers are supposed to appeal to a certain audience when they write, it is not my fault that the audience I tend to write towards consist of deceased scholars who lived a century ago...
