Joseph Glasco was born in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, but grew up in Texas. He was a graduate of the University of Texas and enlisted in the army during World War II. After the war, he enrolled at the Portsmouth Art School in Bristol, England. He also studied at the School of Painting and Sculpture, in San Miguel dAllende, Mexico.[1] New York[edit] Glasco moved to New York and In 1949, after his first one-person exhibition in New York City, became the youngest artist represented at that time in the permanent collection of The Museum of Modern Art. Glascos work has often been compared to the work of Jackson Pollock and in the mid-1950s, he became friends with Pollock, sharing an intimacy over the shared themes of each others work.
