Josh had a bad night last night and a bad day today until about 2hours ago. He is finally sleeping. The night before last was actually decent. Josh has graft vs host disease (GVH) that we have been treating for a few months. When we found out about the mold we chose to hold back treating the GVH and focus on the mold infection. The way you treat GVH is to suppress the immune system and you cant fight a mold infection without an immune system so its a delicate balance. GVH is very painful and life threatening. He is just about at his max for pain meds but he was very uncomfortable last night and today and we think its because of the GVH which has been controlled but is now back. The doctors need to decide tomorrow to either treat the GVH and help him be more comfortable or to leave it alone for now to continue fighting the mold infection as hard as we can. It would be nice to have a MRI done to see the progression or regression of the mold to maybe have a better idea of which problem has highest priority but he is to unstable for that without being intubated and chances are he wouldnt be extubated. UGH! Please pray that the doctors choose the right path and make the right decisions on this. Also pray for him to be more comfortable and get a good nights sleep. I know I keep asking but please pray for a miracle that Josh will be healed and can celebrate his 16th birthday on Aug. 20th and be able to come home, be healthy and enjoy life! What a rejoicing that would be! I am so thankful and praise God for all he has already done for us and for his constant presence comforting us through this!
