Joshua 1:7-9 Make sure you are very strong and brave! Carefully obey all the law my servant Moses charged you to keep! Do not swerve from it to the right or to the left, so that you may be successful in all you do. This law scroll must not leave your lips! You must memorize it day and night so you can carefully obey all that is written in it. Then you will prosper and be successful. I repeat, be strong and brave! Don’t be afraid and don’t panic, for I, the Lord your God, am with you in all you do.” In Christ, we can take this charge to heart and live boldly. God repeats "Be strong and courageous" twice in these 3 verses. The point is, live like the God of the Universe is on your side, because He is. There is responsibility though to that favor, and with responsibility comes opportunity. God calls Israel to obedience and diligence in memorizing the law. Remember, the call is not just to know, but to live in obedience. Likewise, it is not enough that we know Jesus died to save us. We must receive and allow the power of His sacrifice to transform our very way of life.
