Joshua 24:16b-18 God forbid that we should forsake the Lord, to serve other gods; For the Lord our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed: And the Lord drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve the Lord; for he is our God. This is a good thing. Joshua is in the middle of recounting to Israel why it is essential to continue with the Lord God. Joshua is doing something here that Israel would struggle with all the time in their future: he is remembering the Lord and seeking to remind others of His goodness, and who He is. This is good practice for us today as well, as we survey the Bible or our own lives, we are reminded by stories and experience that our God in heaven is faithful and continues to seek us with His amazing grace and mercy.
