Joshua will have blood work done again tomorrow and then see the nephrologist at Ochsner on Wednesday. Im praying that his labs arent any worse than Friday or they will more than likely re-admit him. Due to the fact that the kidney is no longer functioning well enough, he will undergo surgery to have a peritoneal catheter placed in his abdomen. Peritoneal dialysis is done at home, helps the patient to feel better and allows a little more flexibility than hemodialysis. The catheter must heal for 2-3 weeks before it can be used, so a temporary line will be place in his chest for immediate access. The next hurdle will be wether or not to remove the transplanted kidney he received from Bob in 2004. The kidney is swollen and very irritated going from 12.2 cm to 14.2 cm. The transplant surgeon at Hopkins does not want to remove the kidney. He is concerned about the fact that there could be so much bleeding which could complicate things. So, he would like to admit Joshua and give IV steroids. The oncologist at Ochsner and Tulane have concerns about giving IV steroids which could cause the Post Transplant Lymphoma to come back. So, we will continue to pray about what decisions need to be made and like always, I know that God will show us what to do. HE ALWAYS DOES! Please continue to pray for Joshua because hes been feeling extremely sick. Hes exhausted, sleeping most of the time, his blood pressure has been very high and hes nauseated. In the midst of all of this, we are in the process of renovating and moving into my apartments.This will help financially since we will have to be in Maryland for about 4 months before and after transplant and then need to travel back and forth for the first year. Dustyn and I scraped most of the old flooring up downstairs today and I want to stain the cement :) I have no idea how to do it but Im sure someone can tell me how to do it.
