Joss Whedon on his writing of Alien 4, and how important the delivery of lines is: I listened to half the dialogue in Alien 4, and Im like, Thats idiotic, because of the way it was said. And nobody knows that. Nobody ever gets that. They say, That was a stupid script, which is the worst pain in the world. “Its the classic, When something goes wrong, you assume the writers a dork. And thats painful.” Always always always always have good actors. Great if you can get them. If you dont have money to hire good or great actors, work with someone in rehearsals until you stop feeling like youre watching actors and instead feel like the universe has dropped away, like youre a voyeur in a moment you should be allowed to watch. When you get to that point, start filming pronto while its still fresh for the actors.
